SMITHS DETECTION AWARDED CONTRACT FOR NON-INTRUSIVE INSPECTION SYSTEMS

According to DOD: Smiths Detection, Edgewood, Md., was awarded a$248,512,500 firm-fixed-price multiple award task order contract,between seven contractors, for the procurement of non-intrusiveinspection systems and hardware to provide the capability to scanpersonnel, vehicles, and cargo containers. These systems are to beprimarily used in Afghanistan with limited numbers for training inthe United States. Work will be performed in Edgewood, Md., with anexpected completion date of Aug. 31, 2014. Bids were solicitedthrough the Internet with seven bids received. U.S. Army ContractingCommand-Aberdeen Proving Ground, Natick Contracting Division,Orlando, Fla., is the contracting activity (W911QY-11-D-0015).
